How to slice Mushrooms

Because of the flavor, they contribute, trimming and slicing mushrooms is well worth the effort. Cleaning and trimming whole mushrooms is required, as is slicing if the recipe calls for it.

Wipe the dirt from the mushrooms with a soft cloth.
Use a damp paper towel or a dishtowel to clean the surface. Remove the stems from the mushrooms.
The stems are rarely consumed. Place the mushroom caps flat-side down on the cutting board and slice them perpendicular to it.

This method will give you mushroom strips of any thickness you desire. Slice the caps again at a 90-degree angle from the original slices if you want smaller mushroom pieces.
These smaller portions can be used in soups and sauces, for example.
